The pieces shown here are part of a collection of short stories involving image and text, or sometimes only image, without text, and will soon be for sale via post.
The latest collection of short stories involves a journey from Liverpool down to Falmouth, inspired by a number of trips made by the author. Along the way, there is not much in the way of drama and his companions are particularly quiet and restrained individuals. Things change a bit when a fourth passenger climbs aboard the 1 litre, already cramped Renault, but the end, visual results are as much to do with a wandering mind as with real events. Also, it is to do with the small, incremental happenings and seemingly unimportant landmarks along the way. The concern here is with, on the one hand, an acceptance of and an elevating of the mundane, and also with an observing of a fear or avoidance of remaining still - mentally and physically.
Some of the inspiration for the work comes from a book published in the 1950's by Sidney R Jones, about his journeys in the south west of England. It is crammed with amazing drawings and a gentle commentary about the numerous places along the way.
